Levels

No  Means  No The term levels is often thrown around like it means something, but do you actually understand what the levels are. Below is a brief explanation of levels for portfolio and understanding purposes. Portrait  – Fully clothed portrait - style shots, often including headshots. Fashion  – Generally fully clothed, wearing particular outfits. These should be age appropriate but some outfits can be revealing. Check where possible what you will be wearing and that you are comfortable. Lingerie and Swimwear  –  You need to be aware that some lingerie is see-through or very revealing. This type of work must be age appropriate. Exchange of work or Trade for (TF)  – This is where the model gives her or his time, resources and effort, and the photographer does the same. No money changes hands but both benefit from each other’s skills and talents. Glamour   – This covers virtually modelling everything from lingerie to explicit adult nude levels – t...

Trusted Photographer Map

No  Means  No The infamous 'Trusted Photographer Map' something some people see as a negative, but overlook its simplicity of why its here. Direct map link: Trusted Map Quite simply the map is created by me and homes a list of photographers and studios of people: 1. I have worked with for many years 2. Some I have met in person 3. Have glowing references from MANY people 4. Have been a constant, rather than drop on and off at random. Those 4 things alone are why this map was created so I can point people in the right direction of a safe working environment for shooting. IF...IF ever a name was bought to my attention, there is no second guessing that said name would be removed with immediate effect, and for the sheer abuse of my and the brands trust would be highly named and shamed for doing such. Q. How do I get on the map?                                            ...

FAQ from people

No  Means  No This is an ongoing (so will add more as and when) frequently asked questions piece, where any questions from messages, posts, lives will be put that are relevant and often not considered especially by anyone new to the industry. Q . Do I (model or photographer) Have to sign a release form?                                                        A . You technically dont have to BUT should, for one reason, IF you read it, it should give you all details, so you will know whats happening to the images, where they're going etc and IF it doesn't tell you all of the information, you can ask and then decide whether to sign or not. Q . Do I have copyright on images?                                                ...

Release Form

Image
No  Means  No The below is a standard generic release form, free for anyone top save a copy and use as they see fit - it is simple a form for models and photographers to use, pre/on shoot. As you will see it contains all elements that are to be named/signed/ticked by both parties. A good sense of direction would be to discuss all pre shoot, and then have this seen and/or signed before a shoot - anyone not willing to sign, would be a serious red flag as there is no reason not to be signing something like a release form. PLUS it outlines all there is to know for that shoot. * Should anything wish to be changed on the day (example the model may on the shoot, feel comfortable enough to want to try topless or nude - perfectly fine) then simply adjust and initial the release form by both parties (like what you would have done with a cheque)

Impression

No  Means  No They say 'you never get a second chance to make a first impression' and that rings so true to anyone in this industry, especially nowadays. So this is all about WHAT should be seen and WHERE. A common misconception is ' drop me a dm' to shoot WRONG For better transparency, better form of information, a model and photographer profile needs to be short, sharp, sweet and directive. Many a time have I seen a model profile on instagram with '18 adult content creator' or 'fetish and adult model' on a profile, then heard the model complain that a photographer has asked her to shoot open leg...because 'he assumes i do that' NOW... Is it wrong to assume that? NO - why should it be? its written clearly on your profile? So to stop this happening, and any miscommunication, think about what you're having written on your profile! THEN Think about onwards information. To stop any misinformation and/or assumptions - you can put every piece of i...

Red Flags

No  Means  No So the term 'red flags' get banded out a lot, and sometimes can be used far incorrectly than what it should be used for. Red flags by definition are 'warning signs'. So when it comes to working with people that are new to you, there are always certain things to be aware of, and not be judgemental from the start, but more a 'bare in mind'. For Models: 1. If you are approached by a photographer for the first time, the simplest start is HOW and WHERE they are contacting you. IF via a portfolio site (Model Mayhem, Purpleport etc) thats a start as they should have a portfolio on there, with images and references to be checked on first (even before replying) - at this stage you may not like their style or themes to begin with, so that can be part of your first communication to them - saves going around the houses to an eventual shoot they may not give you the outcome wanted. Red Flag advisory - IF they have no references, even recent, WHY? Red...

Reporting

No  Means  No Reporting So, first thing is first PROOF , thats is the ultimate word on reporting anything. PROOF IS ALWAYS REQUIRED! Why? without any proof, all it is, is hearsay, and thats one of the things that No Means No is here to prevent. Obviously if the information being reported is of a nature thats serious, we will of course listen, interact and take action accordingly and names added to specific private lists. BUT for any onward process, proof gives No Means No the blatant proven information that we can act on with immediate effect. Whether thats publicly naming or whether it has more to do with a police issue or legal matter etc. How to report? Simply drop us a dm on our TE page or send us an email. From that point we can either discuss via there or arrange a call/video chat if/when required for any further detail. Best practice on reporting: * DO NOT FORGET - to let us know if you wish to be kept nameless on any issue reporting, it is...
