FAQ from people
No Means No
This is an ongoing (so will add more as and when) frequently asked questions piece, where any questions from messages, posts, lives will be put that are relevant and often not considered especially by anyone new to the industry.
Q. Do I (model or photographer) Have to sign a release form? A. You technically dont have to BUT should, for one reason, IF you read it, it should give you all details, so you will know whats happening to the images, where they're going etc and IF it doesn't tell you all of the information, you can ask and then decide whether to sign or not.
Q. Do I have copyright on images? A. Technically NO - the way the law sees it, is like this: The photographer is the copyright owner of all image taken, even after their death, that copyright retains to them. The only time copyright may be yours as a model is IF...there is a written form of consent AND witnessed, by the photographer expressly giving you ownership rights, at which point any digital and printed images would be passed to you and any others held by the photographer would be deleted.
Q. I want to take a chaperone, but the photographer doesn't want one, is that ok? A. IF you wish to take a chaperone, then that is 100% your right, anyone not ok with that, doesn't deserve to be worked with. As covered in previous posts here, its a bone of contention where 'some have spoiled it for the rest' BUT you have the absolute right to take someone with you to any/all shoots, and if others are not ok with it, then that is a red flag in itself.
